We are so lucky here in Hong Kong.
We have holidays for both Chinese festivals and Western Festivals. So after Christmas we have Chinese New Year holidays.
Children like Chinese New Year because there’s a lot of great food and candies served. They also get red packets from elders.
From 7 February 2008 on, it’s the Year of Rat. The Rat was welcomed in ancient times as a protector and bringer of material prosperity. In Chinese Calendar there were 12 Chinese animal Zodiac, and rat is the first of the cycle. Being the first sign of the Chinese zodiacs, rats are leaders, pioneers and conquerors. Rat represents aggression, wealth, charm and order.
I wish everyone a happy Chinese New Year and have a fruitful year.
