It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change.
~Charles Darwin, English naturalist

I read about this quote today, and I got a great feeling about it. Even dinosaurs went extincted, so it proved that mammals, who was adaptable in those days, won the game of life.

So we IMechE HK Young Member Section is definitely not the strongest branch of Engineering professional body in Hong Kong at this moment. That’s a bad thing but the good thing is that we know we are not, and we shall think more vigorously on our strategy and the meaning of our survival and existence.

Nothing focuses the mind better than the constant sight of a competitor who wants to wipe you off the map.
~Wayne Calloway, Former CEO, PepsiCo

And yes, it’s true. And one competitor is already bad enough! So we are thing, is it a must to have competitions, with all people?

Co-opetition
co-opetition, meaning cooperative competition, could be our latest winning strategy. Still thinking of “winner takes all”? Think twice!

This year we IMechE HK Young Members are collaborating with Young Members of ICE, IET, and so on. We believe in this way we will maximize our value. Today the external environment is so dynamic, and our philosophy is that through collaborating with other institutions, we limit our competition, share necessary resources, streamline our processes, and hence create better values and benefits for our members.
